The Rising Sun Hotel is situated in the North of Cheltenham just on the edge of the village Bishops Cleeve. Most rooms offer magnificent views across five counties, as the hotel sits atop Cleeve Hill, the highest point in the Cotswolds. Being on the route of the Cotswolds Way national trail, this hotel makes an ideal stopping point for walkers, either for overnight accommodation, or simply to soak up the scenery in the restaurant and bar.

The 24 rooms are comfortably decorated and reflect the Victorian origins of the building. Rooms include a television, a phone, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Twin, double and four-poster rooms are available, with some rooms including a desk and chair and others including a seating area. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the hotel.

Restaurant and Bar

The Rising Sun Hotel is part of the Old English Inns chain and the restaurant offers the standard menu for this group. The menu consists of classic “pug grub”, with favourites such as Pork Belly, Beef and Ale Pie, and British Ploughmans. There is even a dedicated children’s menu, which includes healthy options. The hotel also serves a hearty breakfast, but this is not included in the cost of the room.

The large bar area provides guests the opportunity to unwind with splendid views of the Cotswolds and is a fine example of a traditional English pub. The bar frequently shows sporting events and has occasional live music. Outside, there is a sheltered garden terrace area and an extensive beer garden where guests can further admire the view.
