Tucked away in the picturesque Montpellier Gardens, the Gardens Gallery is located in the Proscenium Building. The Proscenium was originally opened in 1900 as an additional concert venue next to the park’s bandstand. Deserted and empty for a number of years, the building was refurbished in 2007 and converted into a community art gallery. The gallery serves to give local artists a space in which to display their work, as well as providing a home to community arts projects.

Exhibitions are held in the gallery between March and December, and changed regularly, often weekly. Visitors to the gallery can expect to see an eclectic mix of exhibitions, all from aspiring and established local and regional artists. Previous exhibitions have included paintings, sculptures, photography and video installations.

During the Christmas period, the gallery has Christmas themed displays and craft fairs. The gallery also hosts regular workshops throughout the year that are held by local artists and can be booked by members of the public.
