Named after the Battledown Estate – a 19th Century heritage housing estate that lies to the east of this guest house – the Battledown Bed and Breakfast provides modern accommodation in a Victorian setting. The grand and elegant villa was built in 1855 and is now owned by Simon and Sarah who along with their daughter, Isabella, aim to give travellers a warm welcome into their home. Cheltenham’s main high street is one-mile away and there is free parking available for guests.

Accommodation

Rooms are sophisticatedly presented in a style that is respectful to the building’s French colonial architecture. There are seven rooms and each one has en-suite bathroom facilities. Single, twin and double rooms are available and all are equipped with a HD television and Freeview, a DVD player, and free wireless Internet. Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels are provided, along with a hair-dryer, a desk and a chair. There are tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits and there are shared fridges that contain fresh milk. Guests will find slippers and hot water bottles in the communal areas that are available for use.

Breakfast

A spacious guest room provides the setting for breakfast. Overlooking the villa’s gardens, the room is tastefully decorated and provides a comfortable seating area with a large selection of books for guests to borrow. Board games, DVDs, cutlery, crockery and a fridge are also provided.

The breakfast buffet has numerous options, including homemade banana bread, as well as homemade jams and marmalades. There is an excellent choice of cereals on offer and cooked food is prepared to order, using locally sourced and free-range ingredients.

Additional Facilities and Services

Outside there is a picturesque walled garden and terrace with seating for guests to enjoy. A garage space can be used to store bicycles.
